In the world of romance novels happy endings are guaranteed. A
romance novel can be a great way to escape your troubles and enter a world of love and emotion
that always has happy endings. It can be a great way to relax and you can for a second step out
of your troubles to enter the problems of others who's end in happiness.
A great thing about reading romance novels is that you become
emotionally involved in the characters of the story. As you read deep into good written novels
you will cry with the characters and cheer them on as they fall in love with the hero. With the
large variety of romance categories there will be no shortage of reading material. The most common
categories are modern romance, historical, science fiction (aliens or space portables), or
fanatsy (time-travel, werewolves,etc.). Though romance novels may have multiple categories they
all follow a basic storyline.
A romance novel always has a hero and heroine who fall madly in
love with each other but, neither one knows it until the end of the story. The hero is usually
in a place of power (like a CEO, King, Knight, Duke, Spy, or guardian) and is more than likely
wealthy. The heroine is usually on hard times (could be a poor heiress, orphan, or in some form
of danger like being in a kiddnapping plot or being married against her will). Yet, the heroine
always has a strong personality and must overcome some surmountable crisis. This crisis is
there to either bring the hero and heroine together or tear them apart.
In every romance story there is a villian that the hero and
heroine must stop. The heroine is usually the one in trouble with the villian and the hero
comes to the rescue. After the crisis is over and the hero and heroine have admitted thier love
for each other they get married and live happily ever after.
As you begin to read more romance novels you become to have
favorite novels and authors. The characters of the books and the authors who write them become
friends to you. You will also have some favorite character from the many novels you will read
(trust me on this!) that have something in their personality that either relates to you or you
would like to be more like in real life.
For example, a shy person may read Firestrom by Brenda
Joyce and wish to be like the strong, beautiful, and outspoken Strom Bragg who makes Brett
D'Archand fall in love with her at first sight.
In every romance novel there is a fairy tale quality or rosy tint
to the story that by the end of the novel (if its good) you just want to hold the book and sigh.
The best books are when you are pulled into the novel to laugh, cry, get angry when the villian
seems to be winning, and scream in frustrated at the hero's and heroine's pride getting in the
way of showing their true feelings to one another. All the emotional roller coaster that each romance book gives the reader is what reading romance or books, for that matter, is all about.
For many Romance Reading is a Good Thing!
